Nemarrau Ole Tome

Nemarrau Ole Tome was born in Kenya located in East Africa. He grew up in the Maasai Mara. He has 21 brothers and sisters. His parents began to groom him for leadership early in his life. His father is his best friend and has been extremely instrumental in making him the strong leader he is today. It has always been his dream to help his people. He began taking responsibility in his community at a time when others his age were interested in other things. His initiative and great leadership abilities prompted the leaders in both Kenya and Tanzania to appoint Nemarrau as the Ambassador for all of Maasailand. The Kenyan government also took notice of his accomplishments and awarded him the official title of Ambassador to the Maasai. He has successfully completed all rites of passage in the Maasai culture. His goal is to make education possible for his people, enabling them to one day be competitive in the 21st century. He feels strongly about stopping the encroachment of his culture brought on by outside influences. Environmental issues and tourism are also topics that he is trying to educate the world on in hopes to bring about positive change. His main mission in life is to protect his people and their culture.
